The woodlands are predominantly broadleaf species and are managed by Wessex Woodland Management under an English Woodland Grant Scheme which includes a commitment to biodiversity. There is a rolling programme of thinning, felling and replanting, with additional emphasis on coppicing started in 2007. The hope is to reduce the carbon footprint of the Estate by installing a local community biomass boiler system within the next few years, fuelled as much as possible by estate-grown woodchip.
