Conservation and habitat management are key elements of the Estate strategy. As well as improving the natural environment by developing new conservation areas within the arable land, the strategy affords opportunities for a variety of sporting activities. There is a small family shoot and other field sports including trout fishing and falconry take place on the Estate. As part of this aspect of land management, the estate has implemented a thorough vermin control programme as a result of which many species of endangered wildlife are appearing again across the estate. Deer management is undertaken in house, both improving the resident roe population and reducing crop and tree damage. Venison and game is all sold locally.
